Inspired by Dr. Leakey and his ideas, they started a collective to promote a multidisciplinary approach to human origins research. Louis Leakey was married to Mary Leakey, who made the noteworthy discovery of fossil footprints at Laetoli. Found preserved in volcanic ash in Tanzania, they are the earliest record of bipedal gait. He is also the father of paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey and the botanist Colin Leakey.

If only such parents were to arm and equip their family with a biblical worldview, one which lets them connect the evidence of the real world to the Bible, what a difference such real science would make! Louis Leakey died in London on 3 October 1972, aged 69. As with all of us, his choices were relevant to both his temporal and his eternal destiny.

Mary and Louis Leakey. Louis Leakey (1903–1972) was born and raised in Kenya, Africa, as the son of missionaries. He began research there in 1924, convinced that humans originated in Africa rather than Asia, as many scholars thought at the time.

Louis Leakey was born on August 7, 1903, in Kabete, Kenya, to English missionaries Harry and Mary Leakey. He grew up in Africa, surrounded by the Kikuyu tribe, steeped much more in African ways than in those of the English.
